(thankfully) had a bad day.

It was a rough day today. The plate was already full:
working on the launch of the new sites of churchmarketingsucks and cfcclabs
looking at some things for the church marketing lab
2 new logo projects
1 new print campaign
2 new web projects
20 plants to get into the ground at home
and special services at church tonight
All good great stuff, but a busy day. Especially for a Friday.
Then the floodgates opened.
Added to the list:
my son needed cupcakes for class
and the biggie my wife wasn’t feeling well, went into the doctor who ordered blood work. (to top it off we don’t have insurance since we’re self employed, etc. etc.)
I was overwhelmed and stressed to the max. I could feel my whole body and soul tense up. So I reached out to all of you on Twitter and FB. The response was moving. Dozens of you responded, many offering to help however they could. I even had one dear friend offer to bake the cupcakes for Ty. It really touched me when @timabare sent me a simple message “how can I help?” Now, I know Tim, his son Brad is a friend (and we work together at CFCC)…but it’s not like we have a deep relationship and spend all night on the phone. Yet still like so many others he genuinely was reaching out to help.
The power of social media, right? No. The power of compassion. The blessing of people helping people.
Everyone reaching out, their kind words, your prayers changed my outlook and I prayed
“God thank you for pouring your love into people so that they could in return show that love to me and my family.”
“God thank you that I can be stressed out about having to go buy cupcakes and not that I just can’t afford them and have to tell my son he has to go without.”
My bad day turned to a thankful one as I was reminded of how huge God is and how much he loves us.
For I am the Lord, your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
I will help you.
Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob,
O little Israel,
for I myself will help you,” declares the Lord,
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Isaiah 41:13
Ok, I love those verses. I love “O worm Jacob”. And then continues with
I myself will help you,” declares the Lord,
