Vatican announces new sins

PopeI had to read this article a couple of times over from USA Today. The Vatican has announced three new sins:

  • genetic experiments
  • pollution
  • mind damaging drugs
  • The article also states
Also receiving fresh attention by the Vatican was social injustice, along the lines of the age-old maxim: “The rich get richer while the poor get poorer.”

Ummm…how much did that giant solid gold cross run you Mr. Pope?

I don’t know, the whole thing just rubs me the wrong way, it’s so about what man has to say and rules they set instead of who God is and what He wants for and from us. It is so easy for us to get caught up in pointing the finger and saying “Shame on you” and so difficult for us to wrap our arms around someone and say “I love you.” Again, it comes down to how and what we communicate. Is church about pointing out sin or showing redemption?

What do you think? Is this another case of religion or spiritual guidance?

What about genetic mind enhancing drugs? and then there is light pollution and noise pollution thing, is the Vatican really ready to turn of the lights and the sound system.

This tough because I see the point the Pope is making. All of these three things are destructive to the order of things God created. I once heard that the great sin was knowing what God has called you to do and ignoring it. I can’t find that in the Bible per say, but I agree with the logic.

genetic experiments – playing God? and Charlton Heston said, “You shall have no other gods before me, for I am the Lord your God.

pollution – i am pretty sure we are to be a good steward of this planet, God did put Adam in charge of maintaining the garden and dominion over salamanders and cool animals.

mind damaging drugs – and I know for sure we are supposed to have our minds renewed in God.

Now I got to believe there was a context in which he have his prime directive, I hope it was that God wants the best for us, He loves us, He has invited all of us to partake in his beauty and creation, He has invited us to His story where we are his beloved.

But I am not playing Texas Hold’em with that hand (those would be my thoughts).

I guess that’s what rubs me the wrong way…the context. Since when did man get to decide what is sinful and what is not? Is it a sin simply because the pope says so? That’s playing God from my vantage point.

It’s also another case of the Church saying do that, don’t do this and spending the time and energy with carrying a stick instead of loving. Why not spend that time cleaning up pollution, loving those addicted to drugs…

      Do not believe the Vatican.
Research it you will find layer upon layer of deception.
