Selling what no one is buying.

I never thought I’d do it again. Really never gave it a second thought, it was part of an old way of life. Or so I thought.

I even walked away at first, but I went back to do that which I never thought I would do again.

I bought a CD.

Yep, a real honest to goodness polycarbonate plastic CD…case and all.

It’s the all that made me do it. (in fact I’ve already ripped the CD to my computer and downloaded it to my iPhone.)

While I’ve heard rumors of some people still buying CDs claiming to want the lyrics inside. I can’t claim that.

This CD doesn’t even have any words on it. All instrumental.

The CD is Derek Webb’s new project Feedback, it’s a musical meditation on the Lord’s Prayer. Along with this is a visual exploration of the Lord’s Prayer, each track accompanied by a 5×5 piece of original art, all pulled together to allow me to meditate on God, and the journey through the prayer.

This is how you sell something no one is buying anymore. This is the strength of the artist.

I think there’s a lot to be learned from this. Both as communicators, and maybe even more so as believers. What do you think?

That’s cool! Totally worth a purchase of physical media :) I very rarely want to purchase a physical book, but this one is a gotta have: http://www.crossway.org/bibles/the-four-holy-gospels-1370-fab/

Great post Michael, so true. There has to be a paradigm shift in the way we market. Not just a hook and bait scenario, but like a whole meal involved. Good stuff man!
