because kids need their dad

I did not have a good childhood with my dad, at all. It was a very painful time in my life. Soon after I moved out I didn’t talk to my father for many years, probably 7 years or so.
It was then that I sent him a letter saying that I forgave him. That act of forgiveness and moving forward has resulted in today, where we have a really good relationship. Our past is in the past and we now have that father son bond that I always dreamed of as a little kid.
I say that certainly to say Happy Fathers day to my dad, and thank you to God for that healing but more importantly for anyone out there, father or son, whose relationship is all sorts of screwed up. There is hope. There can be forgiveness and reconciliation even from the ugliest of days. I pray that for every father and son who hasn’t yet discovered that, that this would be the year. Because kids need dads.
