I have an Idea.

dc
Coming up right around the corner is Idea Camp and though I can’t be there, you should consider it. This is a big turning point in the InvisiblePeople roadtrip…no literally, Mark will be turning around and making his way back to LA after speaking in DC.

What a fitting stop on his tour, Idea Camp’s theme this year: Compassion.

What better time for us as the Church and as churches to show compassion. Sure they’ll be people talking about going to India, traveling the globe, you name it…but you can and should be showing compassion right where you live. I turn on the news and I can’t help but to see a HUGE opportunity for us to show the love of Christ today. People are hurting and desperate for hope.

So please, consider heading to DC, filling up your tank and prepare yourself to pour out compassion on your city. You might even take the chance to help Mark fill up his tank so that he can make it the rest of the way.

Oh and did I mention it’s free?

Maybe you should take your own advice before you leave comments like this:
Check this http://www.no-spec.com/ to see why this is a bad idea and demeaning to creatives. We should value our creatives and not expect them to work for free, with maybe the chance of a plug. It’s just cheap bro.
I see absolutely no compassion in that.
I mean, did you not just put “I turn on the news and I can’t help but to see a HUGE opportunity for us to show the love of Christ today.”
    in your blog?
Maybe I give my services for free as a way to show Christ’s love.
    Get a clue, dude.

If you want to give your work away, that’s your choice…go for it.

Expecting free work shows a devaluation of designers and is usually a way to find cheap labor.

I care passionately about creativity in the church and the people annointed to bring that creativity into the church.

There are times we should show compassion, there are times where we should speak truth. Being a christian doesn’t mean that we never say something people don’t like to hear. Fear of conflict and of disagreement have bred mediocrity within the church…and it needs to stop.

    Thank you for your perspective.
